OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

Henize 2-72 is a fairly large and faint planetary nebula in the portion of Centaurus that is between Crux and Carina. Although the catalogue magnitude is 14.4,  it has a very low surface brightness. There are reports indicating that can be glimpsed in a 17.5" telescope.

Another gem from the southern sky which is seldom imaged... mostly because the exquisite nearby objects; in that respect the background nebulosity on the image is coming from IC 1948 aka "The Running Chicken Nebula".

In the wider image at the very left of Henize 2 - 72 (some 16 arc minutes) we have a group of blue stars known as Open Cluster Stock 14. The cluster is 4 arc minutes and has a visual brightness of 6,3
