OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION
In the Southern Constellation of
Centaurus between the Southern Cross and the Carina Complex, lies this very
large patch of emission nebula that gathers some very intriguing objects. The
main structure in the center belongs to IC 2948 a bright region around Lambda
Centauri (bright star middle right). Gum 41 looks like a kind of "open rose" on
the top left. To the right the shapeless structure belong to IC 2872 and further
right Gum 38.
Because its location which is
only two degrees from the Galactic Plane, the region is full of background
stars.
Where is the Running Chicken Nebula ??
