OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

A bipolar Planetary Nebula in the constellation of Vela. NGC 2899 presents a rather acceptable size for the resolution of the SCT 8. The image shows some interesting structure including a bluish tad in the inner part. Although PN distance are hard to be calculated, it is known that in this particular case the objected is around 3000 light years away. The structure appears to be curved, a possible explanation is that the star from which the nebula was ejected had a large proper motion through space.

The nebula lies in a nice and populated star field background. Even from my light polluted backyard gave the object a nice look.
