OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION
This is wide field region involves the well known and photographed area in the southern constellation of Ara (The Altar). The area is in the plane of our Milky Way so is a populated stellar region. The centre of the image we have NGC 6193 which is a remarkable young stellar cluster in the core of the Ara OB1 stellar association. The cluster NGC 6193 is imbedded in an area cloaked by thick gas clouds and obscuring lanes of dust. The hottest stars of the cluster are the illumination source of the emission nebula NGC 6188.
