OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

NGC 6383 is  quite easy to spot since it is close a bit more than 1 degree east from Messier 6. The object is dominated by the 5.7 magnitude star SAO 208977 and its companions present a particular shape. There is a controversy with NGC 6383 and NGC 6374. Sir John Herschel discovered this cluster in 1837 and apparently NGC 6374 was a erroneous duplicate observation of NGC 6383.
