OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

Pismis 4 is a colourful open cluster in the edge of Vela Supernova Remnant. It contain around 45 stars identified in the cluster with the brightest at magnitude 7.3. Visible in the background we have the filaments of one of the two loops of the Vela SNR which make this object a nice target for large focal lengths telescopes

Paris Marie Pismis was an astronomer of Armenian descent (1911-1999) who studied open clusters in Mexico and was the first woman to graduate from the scientific faculty of Istanbul University. (*)
