OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

Near the Norwest edge of Eta Carina Nebula we have this interesting star forming region called IC 2599. This glowing nebula has been carved by intense ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds from several hot and young stars. The high-energy radiation is sculpting the wall of the nebula by slowly eroding its away... this process is somehow visible in the image. NGC 3324 on the other hand, is the Open Cluster associated with the nebula. The stars of the cluster were formed from the material ejected by IC 2599. NGC 3324 was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop in1826.

Also visible the brightest star V370 Carinae (Magnitude range 5.45 - 5,52), and its nebula structure very close to it. The star is 8100 light years away.
