OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

NGC 5043 is a loose and scattered cluster extending over a 14 x 7 arc minutes from South West to North East. It contains approximately 25 stars with magnitude 10,5 to 12 and equal number of faint stars. Many of the stars appears to be connected in loose curved chains. No concentration towards the center or denser subgroups with an irregular outline. NGC 5043 is located at three and a half degrees towards the east of Beta Crux. It was discovered by English astronomer John Herschel from Cape of Good Hope in 1837 using a 18 inch f13 speculum telescope.
