SIZE: 35 arcs minutes

DISTANCE: 2500 light years

   

OBJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMAGE SESSION

Deep south in the constellation of Centaurus lies this peculiar shaped open cluster, 2 degrees south east form magnitude 2.52 Zeta Cen. Its main members are roughly 21 stars layered in a linear form. Within the core of the clusters lies PGC 50388 a very distance galaxy shining at magnitude 14.6 with an apparent size of 1.4 x 0.6 arc minutes. This cluster is a nice target for smaller telescopes.
